This month, we’re working with Lockwoods to offer our winter bookers a huge saving on two Ortovox bundles. Grab yourself an Ortovox Badger Shovel and Alu 240 Probe for £45 (instead of £75 RRP) or an Ortovox Beast Shovel and Alu 240 Probe for £50 (instead of £85 RRP), terms and conditions apply (see below).
In ourpacking list video Lead Guide, Nick Parks, describes a shovel and probe as being two of the three fundamental pieces of kit you need if you’re heading into the backcountry.
Synonymous with quality, Otrovox’s products are well known for their robust nature: the ‘Badger shovel’, ‘Beast shovel’ and ‘Alu240 probe’ are no different. Both the ‘Badger’ and ‘Beast’ have high side walls with a pronounced centre ridge: where they differ is that the ‘Badger’ is super lightweight but the ‘Beast’ is slightly heavier and more of an aggressive shovel. The ‘Alu 240’ probe has a quick-lock assembly system which allows for a fast and easy setup.
The November promotion is valid for bookers of any multi-day 2019-20 winter holiday. However, to learn how to best use your shovel and probe we recommend joining one of our trips that focus on mastering the skills. These trips are designed to take people who are intermediate resort skiers into the backcountry in a safe, controlled, and educational manner whilst being guided by an IFMGA mountain guide. The IFMGA qualification is the highest attainable and requires a huge amount of experience in the mountains.
Learn how to ‘earn your turns’ on our 3-day skill trip. Making sure no moment is wasted, we maximise your time on the mountain and lay the foundations for you to progress onto different challenges.
This week is a mix of off-piste instruction and ski touring skills. The course is aimed at intermediate level off-piste skiers who want to learn the ski touring skills that are essential for traveling safely and confidently in the backcountry, but at the same time having instruction to improve off-piste technique.
Renowned as one of the world’s most beautiful mountain ranges, the Dolomites also offer stunning ski touring. This week includes many of the best descents- long runs into remote valleys surrounded by the towering limestone cliffs that characterise the area. This is one of the best ‘first’ multi day ski tours you can find!
