Skill: *****
Our steep skiing clinics are for expert off-piste skiers capable of skiing the steepest slopes in the toughest conditions. You must be confident in your ability on steep exposed slopes, you also must have previous ski touring experience and know how to use skins, crampons and ice axe. Alpine ski touring equipment is used on Remy’s courses.
Stamina: ****
To participate on the steep skiing courses you need to have excellent fitness and endurance. You need to be able to ski for 5 consecutive days and between 6 – 7hrs per day with limited stops. When ski touring to access descents you will typically be climbing between 700 – 1000m on skins and sometime part of this will be with crampons carrying you skis.
We are again running two 'steep skiing' Clinics in Chamonix with UIAGM Mountain guide and steep skiing specialist, Rémy
Lécluse.
The clinics are five days skiing: two days on individual skiing technical skills, climbing skills and developing the correct
psychological outlook. The last three days you'll apply what you've learnt in the first 2 days with descents of the best couloirs
in the Chamonix valley: Cosmiques or Glacier Rond, Barbey couloirs on Aiguille d’Argentière, Col des Christaux, South face of
Dent du Geant, Couloirs on Petit Combin
Itinerary
Ski Programme
This course is a fantastic opportunity for a small group of expert level skiers to spend a week with one of the best
steep skiing experts in the Alps.
The course is 5 days with 2 days of technical skills/preparation followed by 3 days of steep skiing - the itineraries and
routes will be set by Rémy depending on the snow and weather conditions.
In Rémy's words..."The goal of the course is to teach you safe technical skills & the necessary psychological attitude
to enjoy your passion safely."
Ski area
The skiing area of Chamonix is generally considered to have some of the best off-piste skiing in the world. Much of this
is accessible from the lift systems and includes descents of over 2000m. The Chamonix valley runs for 20kms and there are
several separate lift systems and mountains which provide enormous variety and all are included on the Mont Blanc pass.

What our 2010 course participants say about Remy's Steep Course
"Sking with Remy is something else. As a group we were really pushed, but I myself had confidence that the guiding was
always safe and suited to our ability. It was really great to be on a trip which allowed me to ski out of my comfort zone, well
out at times! The route over Tacul we climbed and skied on the last day was amazing. The chalet was ideal too."
"Fantastic week with Remy, the master of steep skiing."
