The Aladaglar range is the highest and most spectacular massif of the Taurus Mountains in southern Turkey. Only 60 miles inland
from the Mediterranean, they form a compact range of jagged limestone peaks, rising to 3756 metres at it's highest point,
Demirkazık.
Aladaglar means ‘crimson mountains’, and they are named from their fiery glow in the light of the setting sun.
Despite the relatively small area, the range offers an extraordinary variety of landscapes, including narrow canyons, deep
pine-forested valleys, soaring rock walls and pinnacles, and the fabulous Yedigöller (Seven Lakes), a high-level plateau surrounded
by high peaks.
The mountains are situated approximately sixty kilometres from Adana (the closest regional airport). There are daily flights
from Istanbul to Adana.
The area has good trekking and climbing in the summer months and ski touring is possible during the winter.
The mountains are well-known by birdwatchers looking for the caspian snowcock, the wallcreeper and the alpine accentor.
