Photo of Samoens, France

Samoëns is one of the 5 resorts that makes up the ‘Grand Massif ski area’. This is one of the largest ski areas in France with over 250kms of linked pistes. The other resorts are Flaine, Les Carroz, Morillon and Sixt-Fer-à-Cheval.

Samoëns is the only French ski village to be listed as a "Monument Historique” and is certainly an unspoilt traditional alpine village situated at the base of the valley and surrounded by stunning mountain scenery.

Just 1 hour from Geneva airport. Nearest railway station is 18kms away at Cluses. The village itself has a small selection of shops, restaurants and bars.

Fast access to the ski slopes is via the Grand Massif Express gondola which was installed in 2004. Good snow record. The highest lifts take you up to 2500m.

Close proximity to Geneva make it an ideal weekend or short-break destination. Also with easy access to Morzine and the resorts of the Portes du Soleil as well as Chamonix and Mont Blanc it is an ideal base for a ‘ski safari’ week.

The area is renowned for very good, consistent snow cover.
There is excellent off-piste skiing with lots of varied terrain.
