Locations > Homathko Icefield
The Coastal Mountains are a series of mountain ranges along the Pacific coast of North America, extending from SE Alaska to Baja
California. They range in elevation from 2,000 to 20,000 ft (610–6,100 m).
The Coast Ranges are rugged, geologically young mountains formed by faulting and folding and are composed mainly of granitic
rock.
The Homathko Icefield is a part of the Coast Range in British Columbia and is located approximately 250kms NW of Vancouver. The
icefield is a plateau of snow surrounded by peaks most of which have an elevation of less than 500m.
The area is not unexplored but it is rarely visited in winter.
